WALL-E

At the beginning of 22th century, a “huge” company Buy N Large (BnL) dominates economics on earth, including governance. At that time, earth is no longer livable. That caused by waste that is not recycled. So, every man has to evacuate for a moment. Shelby Forthright (Fred Willard) as the CEO of Buy N large evacuate human kind by a spacecraft “The Axiom” that sustain every human needs and complemented with robots to serve human beings.

As the human go, few junk destroyer robots “WALL-E” are left behind to clean the earth. But this project is aborted due to Forthright’s thought that in 2110 Earth was too polluted and it’s no longer possible to be lived by human anymore. 700 years have passed, until there only one WALL-E left.

WALL-E very liked to collect interesting items. And he often watched musical movie from 1969 called Hello, Dolly! from video cassette. The other video he likes is Put on Your Sunday Clothes, with holding hands scene in video “It Only Takes a Moment” that teach him to have a feeling.

One day, WALL-E found a seed of plant and planted it. Not long after that, a spaceship landed on earth and release EVE (Elissa Knight). A female robot that sent by spacecraft The Axiom. EVE is programmed to find out if there is a sign of life of flora on earth. WALL-E fall in love to EVE but EVE don’t bite it. Until EVE taken back to Axiom, WALL-E infiltrate to that ship.

After centuries live in microgravity, human in The Axiom loss a lot of calcium, that makes them so fat and unable to stand or walk. Human activity fully supported by robots. Captain B. McCrea (Jeff Garlin) also command all his duty to an autopilot system called AUTO. M-O, decontaminate robot that programmed to clean every foreign contaminant chase WALL-E.

When EVE finally reached the mother ship EVE programmed to deliver the seed to McCrea placed in a detector device called holo-detector. That device is a detector machine that has function to give information that human can go back and live again on earth or not. When it’s going to detect the seed carried by EVE, that seed is lost. EVE considered broken and sent to repair department with WALL-E. WALL-E ever made a chaos and released other broken robots in repairing room. EVE can’t take WALL-E’s attitude, trying to take him back to earth with emergency capsule.

Finally it’s found that the lost seed was stolen by McCrea’s main assistant GO-4. GO-4 keeps the seed in the emergency capsule. Seeing the seed, WALL-E entered the emergency capsule where the seed placed. GO-4 is going to destroy the emergency capsule by activating the self-destruct instruction.

At that time, WALL-E was inside the capsule but WALL-E finally escaped with the seed a second before the emergency capsule is destroyed. EVE feels relieved because WALL-E retrieve the seed and they are flying happily on the free space around The Axiom.

And then WALL-E returned the seed to McCrea. And then the captain plays a video contains WALL-E’s effort in protecting EVE when EVE was in non-active mode. That video makes EVE fall in love to WALL-E. McCrea concerned watching natural devastation and he is planning to take human back to earth to recover everything. But, AUTO affirmed that humans are not allowed to go back to earth. AUTO was created and designed to follow orders but it rebel and throw away the seed. AUTO attacks WALL-E that trying to protect the seed. Finally AUTO push non-active button on EVE and throw away WALL-E and EVE to waste disposal with the seed. While McCrea locked inside his room.

At the disposal waste EVE active again. Then EVE tried to find WALL-E. After found it WALL-E has already at critical state with severe damages. She tried to fix WALL-E, but her effort was useless.

Finally they can get out from the waste disposal and carry the seed to detector machine with defeat AUTO. As the consequences WALL-E’s body broken severely. Axiom finally head to earth in light velocity.

Finally after they landed on earth, EVE trying to fix and resurrect WALL-E in hurry using spare parts in his home. Unfortunately, WALL-E has broken severely. Even though WALL-E has been repaired perfectly but WALL-E is no longer WALL-E who was known by EVE. WALL-E has lost his feeling and memories. EVE so sad because WALL-E, the one she loved has gone. EVE grab his hand then attach her head at WALL-E’s head (that actually means a kiss). An electrical spark from that kiss recover WALL-E’s memory and personalities, then he can remember EVE and feel so happy because he can hold EVE’s hand.

Finally, humans and robots works together in fixing and recovering lives on earth with new hope under McCrea’s lead. A normal life can be enjoyed again by human. About the continuance of human life with robots on earth, can be seen in paintings at the credits in the end of the movie.
